Its so ignorant to say he lost that game. As far as making adjustments...couldnt you just say that for every game?

Ignorant?? Humm......nope..just being realistic.

As for adjustments, no I wouldn't say that a coach loses every game. However, bad coaching and the failure to make adjustments does sometimes contribute greater to a loss and that is what happened last night.

Ottawa was able to use their speed that effectively shut down Toronto's ability to establish pressure on the Ottawa forwards and led to Toronto having to pursue the puck and expending more energy, which for a old fart team isn't a good thing.

Also, Toronto's top line of Mats Sundin, Gary Roberts and Mikael Renberg combined for a grand total of one shot. One shot that is....Quinn should have made a line change adjustment during the game.

Ottawa outshot Toronto 30-17. Ottawa was able to establish a strong and weak side going into Toronto's end and took Belfour's puck handling ability out of the game. This coupled with having 3 weak defenceman allowed goals such as the one scored by Hossa to walk out from down low and take a shot, then get the rebound and put it passed belfour.

All of these are examples of situations where the coach could and should have made adjustments that might have prevented a loss.

So, no, I wasn't being ignorant...I was simply stating facts. I've been around hockey long enough to have recognized what was happening and saw it on my own tv. The question should be, what was Quinn watching?

I think it would have been a totally different game if that call was'nt made on McCabe. the replay clearly shows Hossa's stick wobbling before McCabe hit it.

I read somewhere that Gary Roberts stated Hossa's stick was already broken which in game rules Hossa should have got the penalty for playing with a broken stick.

anybody get a peak at Fishers stick?,i think it was Fisher #15? anyways I got a peak of his blade during a timeout. I think they should call for a stick measurment . :p

As for Mccabe's penalty...it is one that has been called all year..if you hack the stick out of your oppoents hands or break it..you'll get 2 minutes...it was the right call.

As to the stick in question with the 2 inch curve at the end of the blade...that is Schaefer not Fisher.

watch the replay, the stick was already broken ,it was'nt the right call but neither where many others. I just feel that call was the difference in the game. Toronto was playing well till that 3man advantage.

If you know Quinn you know he sticks firm througout the game. As far as your analysis it has been well documented by even the casual observer as to what went wrong last night. Should Quinn have done something different? Maybe...What did Martin do differently in the 6-0 romp. The goals scored last night were on a deflection shot from the corner, a 5on3 and another PP and a goof from our Dman. How was that Quinns fault? Perhaps the offense was not moving like it could have been but the way they came out..any change wouldnt have been the cure. Quinn will make changes for tomorrow im sure. Facts? those are your opinions...facts are what happened yes...was Quinn to blame? those are your opinions

Blaming the coach for the loss in Game One reflects a total lack of understanding of hockey.
Not surprising, of course, coming from Ottawa. ;)
