Fantastic. We need more condos downtown.grooverider said:A freind of mine told me that the entire lot was bought and something new (condos?) will be built there.
We saw that also. Wonder if Devil's Martini will also find a new home. Both seemed busy enough every time I've been there. Fun places, too.kooldogg said:I was by there and it is definately going to be condos. Although the new address for the garage is just down the street. It was painted on the side of the building, i can't remember it right now.

Rumors are in the wind about one or two others in that area, including a few fairly large ones. Some of them are apparently hemmoraghing money on a nightly basis...
Hard to imagine that the Garage Paradise was losing money. At least you wouldn't think there was a lot of overhead at that place, but one never knows.
Well that's a shame, but I imagine the market will "find its level." Do miss the Devil's Martini, though.BBW_Morgan said:The rents alone are unbelievable in that area. A friend of mine from the US has been in the process of opening a new (really large) club in the district for the last six months. I think he'll have lost all of his hair and what's left of his mind by the time the doors open. I don't envy him.
Overhead now is at the point that apparently anything less than capacity crowds can push a club into closing, and with so many to choose from, the crowds can afford to be fickle. We're heading for an NYC style club scene -- a constant cycle of openings, almost immediate closings, and then reopenings with a new name...
