What do you think?
I don't think you can home build a beast like this cheaper.
It has great specs and reviews. Been looking for a new PC to replace my 12 yr old Gateway P2, that still runs great with XP Pro & Ubuntu Karmic Koala, and figured this one may last as long....:)
I just wonder if these new Gateway's are built as well as my old one.
It comes with a free upgrade to Win7. Don't know why W7 isn't preloaded yet?

Newegg.ca also has an i5 750 barebone package for $675:
That CPU is nice but you get a better bang for your buck with the Intel® Core™ i7-860 processor. That's the one I planned getting till seeing this Gateway in the OP.

I feel like a kid again after reading some of the reviews on this PC.
A couple guys threw in a SSD as primary, using the existing 1 TB drive as storage and say Win7 boots up in < 30 seconds off the SSD!

That figures!
Same thing happened with my Gateway P2 400 Mhz bought in '97.
Gateway was the Number 1 PC maker back then and my P2 'screamer' back then was dated 6 months after I bought it!

Gotta luv the way technology marches on.....

the hobby needs more capitalism
Unless it's meant to be a glorified web / email machine, I'd build a PC from scratch.

Ultimate control over what components from what manufactures go in. Pricing is extremely competitive with OEM components.
