What are your choices, what would you do? Would you risk getting in an accident or causing one that will possibly kill another human being because of an animal crossing a major highway?
Personally I wouldn't stop, if there is no way of going around them and cars or trucks are behind me? I am not going to risk my life or anyone else.

I had this happen with a family of ducks on a rural two lane 80 kmh about ten years ago. Road was slightly hilly and car in the distance in front of me slowed suddenly to almost a stop. As I approached I could not see why they were slowing, so I pulled out to pass. It was then I saw the ducks with no chance to stop without going in the ditch. I think one baby duck died and I did feel bad, but people stopping in live traffic lane should face repercussion.

There was a time maybe 3 yrs ago, the car in front suddenly stopped for a family of geese crossing the highway. I almost crashed into the cars in front of me and had to veer off to the shoulder like others behind me. Felt my life flash before me.. cursed off the idiot who stopped.. protected species my a$$, Darwinism means dumb geese gets wiped out, have wings fly across the damn highway..

So if the car stopped for engine trouble and the accident happened, then the truck driver would have gotten the charge.

I’m not condoning the stopping. I have no idea what happened or how they stopped but as a driver, you have a responsibility too when driving.

I had a guy pull into the fast lane for no reason going 85 yesterday. I came up on him at 115. There was no time to stop/ slow behind him and I went to the shoulder a bit. If I had of hit him, it would have been my fault. (Well maybe - I have a dash cam which would show he came over at a much slower speed but that is a debate for another thread.)

People are fucking idiots on the road and you have to be prepared and watch out for it. This guy who stopped is an idiot but the drivers that got into the accident bare some responsibility as well. IMHO.

You always happen to be at the right place at the right time in most of these threads. Such a coincidence.
Thanks for your contribution.;)

Anything smaller than a deer and I’m just lifting off the gas and going through it. l know three separate people that had fairly bad accidents but thankfully very minor injuries because they tried to swerve around a small animal at highway speed. Sorry little bunny but if it comes down to running you over or me being upside down in the ditch your going to be road kill 100%. I would rather a busted grill than a busted arm.

You two should get married or at the very least get a hotel room for a couple of hours.

You're Welcome

He just seems to like to play follow the leader with the way he follows me around the board, always commenting on my posts. The obsession is getting out of hand. At this point it is time for ignore.

I have to be honest on these 'what if' driving scenarios.
I could give you the theory behind my driving decisions in collision avoidance here:

In reality this is how the theory translates in to practice at that moment:

When I'm driving and instantly there is a chance of hitting any object .... goose, duck, rock, nun, child, Adolf Hitler .. whatever, is to avoid it,

It is hilarious to read that commenting on posts is an obsession. Why have these discussion threads ?
Easy solution to this is do not post because the response hurts your feelings.
This is a two way street just in case it is assumed it is one way.
The ignore icon is for the ones who are thin skinned and cannot handle criticism

This is bs. Apparently it is also illegal to run over a Canada goose with your car:

.

This Act arose from an international treaty between Canada and the United States, signed in 1916. The MBCA provides for the protection and conservation of migratory birds, and prohibits people from harming these birds, except under specified conditions.May 3, 2019

Big difference between what you should do and what you will do when the moment comes up.

Kinda like fighting. Yeah man I'd do this and this and this when in reality, unless you have training and experience you will probably curl up into a fetal position and sob while saying "I need and adult" over and over again.

Also if someone slams on the breaks because they saw a geese and you hit him from behind or have to swerve out of the way, you are the tailgaiting cunt. There is a reason you are supposed to keep a proper distance behind the car ahead of you, not that anyone does. Hopefully if that happens, you swerrve off the road into a massive rock and kill yourself so you stop putting other people's lives in danger.

Rule on a motorcycle is if it fits on a dinner plate hit it. If larger avoid it. Same applies to how much damage your car/truck will get.

Yeah yeah but what would you do if Justin Bieber was crossing the road eh? 🧐
