Just screamed at my two young sons telling them how lucky they are to have a roof over their heads and food on the table - this started as they fussed to eat the pork souvlaki I just bbq'ed them - which was really tasty by the way!

Gave them a big lecture that many kids in the world do not have food let alone Ipads and video games.

I said in 2015 we would volunteer every 3 months to do something to help the not so fortunate.

But in an effort to not put things off, anybody have any information on where to get info on volunteering during xmas? Somewhere where small kids are also allowed to come and help out. Also something to help kids is preferred so it is relevant for them. Anywhere in the GTA is good.

I get around.
Guess it depends on their age but the Daily Bread Food Bank can use volunteers during the holiday season.

Maybe check out the Toy Mountain events and contacts

Monday Feb 16 is the Great Canadian Chill at Dundas Square, they need volunteers that day (it's Family Day weekend) and on Sunday for setting up. This charity event is dedicated to helping children with cancer.

I worked it a few years ago when it was held in the Beaches and participants ran into the lake.

A good place to look for opporunities:

If you're going to volunteer at a retirement home, a criminal record check and a mono test must be done.
So get those done, have the papers with you and it'll save you an extra trip of going back there.

I volunteered a couple of years ago for quite awhile and it was quite an eye opener and loved the simplicity of it all, they didn't care for all the tech stuff, but their stories and conversations were hands down incredible.
