If that's the case then Washington was just trying to fleece Ferguson. If the rumoured Leaf package was correct, they would have been paying way more for Gonchar that the Bruins.

No big deal. Gonchar is overrated IMHO. Sure he's racked up a truckload of assists and is the League leader in terms of points for a Dman, but his plus/minus is -20. He's a defensive liability who coughs the puck up a lot and makes a lot of mistakes. He's weak at quarterbacking the puck out of his end. He's coming back from a shoulder injury. Not worth it.

Anyhow now the Leafs can focus ...... tick, tick, tick ...

It is official - look on slam sports. Glad Leafs didn't get him - I agree with Pansey - he's way overrated. Personally, I'd rather see the Leafs pick up Leetch....or Chara.
