Maybe you haven't noticed what's happening in banking lately. The foreign banks have been going tits up like crazy and getting big government (taxpayer) subsidies. Canadian banks have survived without handouts. What Canadian ownership? I think CRTC should look at Rogers and see how much US investors are funding this company. The next thing for this government to do is to let in foreign banks.
So is that why we don't let foreign banks in? because they go tits up? I don't get it. Maybe you mean its safer without the foreign banks because when our banks loss money like the foreign banks, they just increase fees to make up for their loss.Maybe you haven't noticed what's happening in banking lately. Yes sure, long as they're subject to the same regulations. What Canadian ownership? I think CRTC should look at Rogers and see how much US investors are funding this company. The next thing for this government to do is to let in foreign banks.
Yes the taxpayers helped the banks here! Don't you remember the government bought up mortgages from them so they wouldn't have any risk on their books. The banks here were the first to get governement assistance of course the auto bail out over shadowed the bank bailout maybe that is why people forget.Maybe you haven't noticed what's happening in banking lately. Yes and liquidity did not appear, from the banks, for the businesses who needed it and they all asked "where was their handout?" Credit remained tight even after the government injected tax dollars to the banks. That was not a hand out
The CAD govt bought assets to inject liquidity at a time when liquidity was not available.
The CAD govt stands to make a nice tidy profit on this deal
