Bear in mind that I am a left-leaning type of centrist. I agree, as my parents came here from Europe and worked for everything they got. It is possible to help refugees and asylum seekers and to accept them into Canada, eventually to become full Canadians, I think that we differ in how best to do this.

Actually the asylum system was started by the Tories in the 1950's. So no.

1,500 per month is a tiny amount compared to the millions of people in Canada. We haven't let in "millions" of foreign students and workers and even if we did - so what??!?!?!.... You go pick crops in Saskatchewan instead of folks from the 3rd world, if you don't like it.

And what if they claim asylum and lie?........ We have tribunals to sort it out and it's a win : win. Even if a few lie successfully and get in with a fake story, we acquire immigrants who love this country and are already Canadianized.

Every government process ever devised has been cheated. Maybe we should throw poor single mothers off social assistance because some of them work a few hours a week on the side and simply let them starve to death because of "misuse of the process" and so rich fuckers can save a few $$ at tax time.
