I am running XP Pro, IE 7 using Google. I recently installed SP3 and now when I begin to type in a search in Google a box pops up with all recent searches beginning with the letter I typed. How can I turn off this feature?

To the right of the search box, click on "Preferences".
At the bottom of the page, "Query Suggestions" change the default option.
You need to keep the cookie to keep the setting.

No problem - I only noticed it happening in the last week or so.
It was annoying enough that I figured out how to stop it.
