Google has set the price of their IPO at $108 - $135 (US) per share resulting in a $36 billion market cap.

Anyone know where to get (for free) the 10Q filings for Google? I'm kind of curious to read through them but I can't seem to find the filings on EDGAR nor the usual places.

they are going to sell 24 million shares at $135 par share raising $3.2 billion. The Profit for 2003 was $60 million. So they will earn enough to return to shareholders their original investment in only 53 years.

Watch out for this bubble to burst quickly. 24 million float is only 10% of the company...that's pretty thin. Given that they've by-passed the major under-writers by doing the auction, they don't have the institutional holdings to keep things stable. Fundamentals aside (nothing warrants this kind of PE), the "retail" investors who get in for the IPO will panic when they see how little trading volume there is on the shares and will start to bail pretty quick.

Goober can only do so much himslef to keep the Google buzz going. Afterall he is only one man...yes he's a mod, but still only one mod.

Please excuse my ignorance!
1. How does google make money? Other than selling shares, of course.

2. Didn't the 'dot-com' bubble burst a couple of years ago?

Tanks.

Yup. But Google is hoping to start the folly all over again. It might work for some time as with any other pyramid scheme. But the timing right now might not be right to separate greedy people from their money. However Google is listed in America where the "American dream" exists for anyone even the founders of Google, right OTB?

Thanks for the info guys.

For the record, I have little to no interest in buying the stock, particularly at that price. Besides which, I think Canadians (non-Americans really) are not eligible for the auction. But I think it'll be interesting to read the financials and see (hopefully in the MD&A) why they think the company is worth that much. I'll agree that there's a lot of goodwill in the brand, but I don't think there's that much!

I think the PE for this stock is over 300 nearly double it's competitors - not going to the institutions means they know it's over priced so watch for some serious short selling of this stock by the pros -
