My old desktop machine is on the fritz, so it's finally time to put in a new cpu & motherboard.
Based on your own experience, can you recommend a place that gives good prices and service?
Or do you have any horror stories about places I should avoid?
I'd far prefer to deal with someone in North York.

thx

It would be a terrible idea to upgrade vs new. Who upgrades any more?

It depends on how old the rest of your components are.

You could get a new MB, CPU and RAM and keep everything else but if you're not interested in high performance it would just be easier to get a new machine.

If you do want to upgrade, Canada Computers. They do new systems too.

I agree, depending how old the other stuff is, I also buy from Canada Computers although Fortune has sometimes a good deal.

+1 Canada Computers but if you're close to 400 you can also go to Tiger direct which is close to Colossus.

Here you go...

http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=7_124&item_id=052257

It's less than 300 and it comes with an SSD drive... It's a pretty good system, I bought a couple of them for work. It should be good enough unless your gaming or doing photo/video editing.
If you dont know what that is.. here you go http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid_state_drive

All PCs are cheap today! Just buy a new PC.....;)

How old is your old PC?
It's most likely not worth upgrading.....

The second and third week of March is a good time to buy a new computer. This year the Christmas deals are not as generous as last year. I suspect that because the computers came with the new Windows 8 system the manufacturers did not discount as much. This is the time of year they take stock of inventory and buy chips for the next computer buying rush at back to school time.
