In honour of Father's Day, what's the best advice your father gave you?

And to the dads out there, what were the most memorable gifts you received on Father's Day?

And to the girls in the biz, do you think your relationship with your dad played a role in your choice of profession? Or do you think its a myth that most SPs have f**ked up daddy issues that led to this line of work?

" Save it for the rainy day ."

" Don't marry her if she has B.O. "

Best advice???

Respect the women (Mother, wife, GF, Mistress, SP, daughters etc) in your life with respect and treat them like a queens and/or princesses every day of their lives, and they will reward you 10 fold!

(Edit: I originally wrote wife, since that is what my Dad told me... but on this site, that is probably not a popular option, so I edited to include all women...)

Make sure that you can look yourself in the eye.

PS fernie, yes I think it's a myth.

My dad came to my office one afternoon and told me to start getting home for dinner every night. He never did, and he said he always regretted it.

I don't heed his advice and years later, the Missus tossed me out... because I was never home for dinner, or anything else.

I guess I should have listened to him.

"Son, you should never judge people. Your mother was a whore and I was her John, and together we created you. You turned out ok, didn't you?"

You only get one shot at raising your kids, don't screw it up.

Best advice I ever got from my dad was when I was already an adult.

"Don't try to please everyone, ever. In fact don't try to please any one person all the time. Sometimes you have to tell the ones you love to back off. Even me. We won't like it at the time. It won't matter."

Sounds callous, but it has saved me countless loss of relationships. You lose more friends by being spineless.

Without Mothers and Children, there would be no Fathers.

On my wedding day, my Dad said to me, "If I had gone to jail, I would have been a free man, by now."

My dad once told me to be suspicious of who your union wants you to vote for. He told me to always vote with jobs in mind and the government can create no jobs

He also told me that when you no longer see smoke fron the smoke stacks of factories the economy will begin to collapse.

He had no advice. He simply left.Best thing he could have done.He was and is, a selfish, ignorant, drunken tool who has hurt many people in our family many times over.

His unspoken advice was "Don't follow in my footsteps.I'm an abusive, insecure, f#ckup".I've followed it to a tee.
