Having Big Trouble With Condoms--Thinking of cialis/men's clinic/whatever

OK, so first of all, with the one long-term girlfriend i've had, we did not use condoms, since we got tested and she was on birth control (and trustworthy)...she's out of the picture now, and during the times when i do get any action, paid or otherwise, slightly less often than when blue moons appear, i have difficulties with condoms. Unless I'm REALLY horny already, it takes a long while to get going again with a condom at all, I can only do certain positions (i'm useless in missionary for some reason), and sometimes I just can't get it up at all with the condom on.

And I've tried using various condoms, including the kimono, but the problems still remain. I realize there is more work to do in that department, along with exercise (although I'm certainly not too out of shape), but I really want to just try cialis, which I keep reading is better than viagra for various reasons, although I realize that's debatable. And perhaps the kicker is that I'm only 25....but these fuckin condoms sometimes....

Sorry if sound so naive here for wanting to try cialis, but what would be the best means of actually getting it (and btw, despite the fact that I'm young, maybe i actually DO have a problem that would require it, this isn't just me trying to go for a weekend with a boner just for the hell of it, i'm starting to get more nervous about sex, and perhaps using cialis will allow to break through some bad mental blocks I have that I hope will not be with me in my future years, even though the medication is not exactly for that). I've read in this forum that the Men's Clinic gives people some sort of erection injections, which doesn't sound like what I'm after, and even if it was, I'm leaving the country in a few months, so I don't know if bringing around that sort of medication would 'fly'....

But do they ever give prescriptions for cialis too, or even viagra or levitra? I know there is a $300 fee for just the consultation, but I'd be willing to pay it, if I can be at least reasonably sure that I'll be satisfied (and yes I realize that this is not the best way to approach a medical professional, with your desired prescription already in mind, but regardless).

Anyway, thanks VERY much for any possible help.

Hey seriousdan, I can empathize with you. A number of years ago I went through something similar to you. I noticed the condom thing myself after the end of my monogamous relationship where I was always unsheathed ...for lack of a better term. It started to get into my head (the big one that is ...damn though, it did trickle on down to the little one too). So not being one to sit on a problem, I went to the Canadian Men's Clinic. I was relieved to hear that there was a physical issue, and that it could be addressed.

I received the injection therapy, which initially freaked me out ...I inject what ...where!!? ) But you know what, I learned the technique pretty quickly, and am happy to report it worked. I was also prescribed Viagara as a supplemental remedy. All in all, a wise choice.

What I discovered is that my issue was shared by about 2/3s of all men at some point in their lives, and symptoms can appear as early as the teen years. I realize that I could see signs of the issue from my very early 20's. I had some compression in my penis that sometimes prevented a valve from locking, which allowed some blood flow out of my penis upon arrousal. Apparently very common among cyclists. In retrospect, I cycled a lot as a teenager for sport, and the exercise bike was a popular choice for me in the gym. Needless to say, I swore off bikes ever since.

The doctor explained that the injection therapy was really the only real way to return full natural functionality to my penis. He said it was like physiotherapy "down under". One hour either once or twice a week, for 6-12 months was the prescription. Inject ...inflate ...jerk off (LOL) ...got to do something with it. Stretches everything out, and eventually, you'll notice that things are working really well again. Man, I've had some hard-ons since that ...well, you know.

A word of warning, injections are not really the choice for sexual encounters I found. What do say to a new woman that you're about to get with? "Hold on ...let me just get the needle out here ...there we go. In about 5-10 minutes, you'll have a woody to mount like no other before ...yeehaa baby!!!"

Anyway, I digress. My advice ...go man, go. I don't remember paying $300 for a consultation, but maybe I did. Regardless, it was worth it. Once you're a patient, you can pretty much get whatever prescriptions you want from that whole Viagara family as needed. It's nice though when you don't need them anymore. Good luck!

I can't comment about Cialis or other meds, but have you tried the female condoms? They are worn by the woman, and I'm told are 100% the closest a man can feel to no condom at all, yet with apparently even better STD protection than regular condoms.

You'll probably have to bring along a box of your own if you're going to ask an SP to use them, since they're incredibly expensive and not that widely used, but it's certainly worth a try. You'll likely get the best response either from women you've seen a few times already, or ones who already offer them as part of their service.

I bought a box of them a while back, and putting them in looks sorta daunting, quite honestly - like sticking a frisbee with a plastic bag attached into your lovetunnel - but if they really feel that great for the guys, then it's worth keeping some on hand.

Now all I need is someone brave to come help me experiment with them ;)

way out in left field
Dan: yup, and when you have problems it is just compounded when you start worrying about it (because that is another major cause of erectile dysfunction) and the cycle repeats itself until a woody is rarely than a sighting of jennifer anniston's vagina.....

ANyhow, as eagle said, go get checked out. I think if your family doc refers you Health Canada will cover the visit. At least the consult anyways....

Have you tried...

....larger condoms...?

It wasn't until I was between marriages that I used condoms regularly. Up until that point, even in college. I didn't sleep around a whole lot - typically just steady GFs and since we were "serious", we went without condoms (in retrospect pretty stupid, but hell...)

Anyway, I didn't hae exactly the problem you have, but I did have problems having orgasms with regular condoms. And since wearing them wasn't fun, sometimes I would just forgo sex.

Then, I found larger condoms. Turns out I'm hung like a horse (ok, not really, but I'm bigger than most). Regular condoms were just too tight. Larger condoms...more room to party...this was what the doctor ordered..

Just a thought, if you haven't tried it...
