I have a headset, brand new, originally planned to use it with a phone.

It has 2.5mm jack.

I want to plug it into my desktop computer to replace my old worn headset. The old one plugs into a USB port.

I can get, from The Source, Amazon, etc, connectors that will adapt it to 3.5mm and then another connector that will split it into two jacks, one for the headphones and one for the mic. Then I can get another connector that will take those two jacks and adapt to USB.

I typically use the headset for skype calls and watching movies/Utube.

My question: Am I going to lose any sound quality with all these connectors? Or am I just better off getting a whole new USB headset?

Here's links to the various connectors/adapters I can get:

I found another adapter that replaces the two above:

More number of splits in a wired connection the worse the sound quality will be. So if you use splitters and connectors etc etc the quality will suffer. Having said that, it would not be noticeable if the connections are wired and less than 3. If Bluetooth or wireless.... You will see severe loss of quality, which is not the case.
Why would you need two connectors?
Use one connector to convert mic and audio line into one, when plugging into phone.
Use mic line in mic port and audio line in audio port when using with pc.
You don't need to connect it through USB always. Unless I am missing something .

You are probably not missing anything. I thought of using the audio ports on my PC (pink and green) but the green port is driving my external speakers. I'm not sure if there is and AUX port I can use.. I'll have to check.
