Help! Any experts out there on the female reproductive system?

Advice would be appreciated.

I just had unprotected sex with a female acquaintance yesterday afternoon and she says she is pregnant today and needs $5,000 to $6,000 for an abortion because she has no OHIP. I'm freaked and suspicious at the same time as she said she was expecting her period today. Would it not take several days for the sperm to make it to the fallopian tubes to impregnate the egg? Is not the morning after pill designed to "avoid" the pregnancy by inducing a period and is not used for terminating an existing pregnancy?

Should I ask for the results of the pregnancy test? I know I'm an idiot but please any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

She probably got pregnant a few weeks ago by some dead beat. She is looking for a sucker with cash to have sex with her so she could get the money for her abortion.

Hmmmm check the instruction of pregnancy tests. I find it unlikely that they will test positive one day after sex. The morning after pill is supposed to be good within 72 hours of the incident.

If you're worried about a scam you could offer to go with her and pay on the spot. It justs sounds too weird that she'd know one day after...... go and google the info I'm sure its out there.

chemical changes occur as soon as the fertilized egg attaches to the lining....these changes can not be measured with a home pregnancy test for at least 72hrs.....there are lab tests that can detect pregancy 36-48hrs after the above but they take 24hrs to carry out......there is no way a woman can be sure she is pregnant untill 60 hrs after egg attachment....Relax

...I am AMAZED how much some of you guys don't know....

1) It is IMPOSSIBLE to know you are pregnant one day after the fact.

2) It DOES NOT cost 5,000 to 6,000 to get an abortion.

Dude, you are getting played. She is pregnant all right - but you aren't the father. She saw you for a sucker who probably is "in love" and has been wanting to tap that ass for some time now.

Tell her morning after pills can be purchased at any pharmacy. The "problem" will be taken care of right then and there. Period.

Of course, she will push back on this because it is in reality too late for any "morning after" solution...she is probably a month or so pregnant by some other guy.

No matter WHAT you do, DO NOT give her any money. If push comes to shove, agree to drive her ass to a clinic and sit while she has the abortion preformed. I am not familiar with how things work here in Canada, but in the U.S. there are plenty of places that perform abortions for free or minimal costs...college girls go everyday. Hard to believe such clinics don't exist in Canada as well.

Ask her for a DNA test, full stop. Pay for it yourself; it will be worth it to get her out of your hair.

Call a couple abortion clinics or a hospital or a woman's shelter or even a right-to-life group like Planned Parenthood and ask them how much an abortion costs. Nowhere near $1000 let alone $5-6K.

its ok to think with littleharve before the act, we all understand but now its time to put the big brain to work. There appears to lots of missing details like her ohip coverage. Definately call her bluff, call your doctor set up an appointment, explain the truth and get all of the needed tests. I think that you would be surprised at how your gp would handle this. Not only would he set her straight but he would make sure you were ok. He might bill you for extra services (because of her ohip ) but it would be worth it.
