Marion Hossa has informed Ottawa that he wants the same type of money that Iginla received. He wants 21 million for 3 years, Ottawa offered 11.75 for 3 years. They are just over 9 million apart. He has indicated he will more than likely file for arbitration today. The deadline for filing for aribitration is 5 p.m. today.
If he files for arbitration, he then becomes a UFA next season.
Judging by his stats and record, and what other players of his stature have signed for........he is likely to receive over 5 million from the Arbitrator.
Looks like Ottawa is going to have some serious Cap trouble this year. They currently are at 23 million with only 11 players signed.
Here comes the next phase in this wacky off season........the aribitrator rulings. If teams don't win their cases........it is likely to set off a chain reaction, in which a team will now be over their projected player budget. Thus there is likely to be a number of trades coming up over the next month.
