30K is a fair chunk in a no collateral sistuation.

Sharks may not be such a good idea as their collection methods are a little unorthodox and you sound like there may be a " slight" chance that you'll fail to meet the repayment obligation.

Best to just stick with Esco's cheque.

I wasn't making a joke. The rrates charged on a 30 k street loan without security would be such that you would never get out of the repayment hole. Would take a hell of a good income just to pay the vig, forget about any of the loan principle.

Best to go to a proper credit counselling agency to explore your options before doing anything rash.

Lancslad is right. If you needed it for a month or two, maybe it would make sense. But if you can't pay for another year or two, forget it. You would owe half a million by the time two years come around.

Why not get $30 million not just $30k ?

No one will give you 30k on the street and wait 2 years from a guy with no credit, no assets?

The street guys are even smarter than the banks , and your little scam probably won't go too far here,or on the street pal.

That's a hefty vig. You must be a shark.

No, I am a minnow, at least when I play poker. But try the magic of compound interest. In order to get $30,000 she would likely have to pay $40,000 in a month. Try the magic of compound "interest" over 2 years.

Chill, I understand the math.

BTW, I'll let you know when I have the boys over for poker next time. If you're interested. ;)

I think a quick meeting with a credit counselling service would be an important first step to discuss what other options you might have. Some key issues they can help determine are:

Any security whatsoever that can be offered up?
Anybody that can guarantee a loan?

If the answer to the above 2 questions are no then not sure there is a solution.

when i posted 2 years ago i got a name and number for a shark who lent me the # and i paid him back within 3 months. Unfortuneately, he no longer works in the 'loan' business.
my last alternative would be to file for bankruptcy--something i was trying to avoid.

and to all the 'experts' who know everything about street loans--time for a refresher course. 30K over 2 years would be repaid by a total of 54 500.00 and 8 000.00 over 24months--holding charges. total--62 500.
