When a player goes in on a shootout, if the initial shot is blocked by the goalie can the player pick up a rebound and take a second shot? (assuming forward motion is maintained by the player)

No it was just out of frustration that Heatly missed ( i think it was him anyway) that he swiped again at it . You cant poke in the rebound, once its been saved its dead

Yeah you are right i think it was Spezza, although i was surprised when they panned the crowed that everyone was actually in their seats. Another thing, I had to keep reminding myself this game was actually in Ottawa. Did you hear all the boooooooooing when Alfie touched the puck and the Go Leafs Go chants all night. Too funny! i know it happens but the booooooing was the funniest. Boooooooooo Alfie.

Yes you can. Unless shootouts in the Allstar skills competition is different from shootouts in a regular season game. Gretsky use to deliberately shoot the puck on the goalie and tuck in the rebound in the skill competition.

The answer is, yes he can take a second shot. The only problem is that if he scores on the second shot it doesn't count.:D

yes, back then the shootout rules weren't polished yet for 'official' nhl game play.

mojo- it was fucked up to hear 'go leafs go' in Ottawa, also... about the fans in the seats, i didn't see it- but, i did see a few pannings with everyone on their feet... if your ever at a live game and a shootout is imminent, you'll know what i mean... everyone gets excited about it when it comes time for the shootout. if u r sitting, you ain't watching 'cause u can't see...

though sometimes the fans will sit after the 1st 6 shooters go...
