hi
it al depends on what you need. I have 2 places one I rent and one I live in. I use a broker (familly friend for YEARS) who gets my insurance with ING. I had a flood in my home last year. They came and looked at 11 am the same day (it happened at 1am) and I had a cheque by 7pm so not even 24 hrs. I paid my deductable and the clean up and rebuild was about $10,000 or so. My rental property I bought when I was 18 had insurance since then and have never needed it. (thank goodness)
so as for what is cheaper it's all what you have and what you need. Also when it comes to cost, cheap vs costly provider, I suggest getting a couple of estimates for the same thing. But do know that cheapest is'nt always best when it comes time to USE the insurance. This is where word of mouth and a solid reputation is best.
hope it helps
