Highlights from the story:

Houston taxpayers could start footing the bill to help first-time homebuyers pay off debts and improve their credit scores, under a proposal before City Council this week.

The “Credit Score Enhancement Program” will give up to $3,000 in grants to individuals who are trying to qualify for mortgages through the city’s homebuyers assistance program. City officials say some applicants fall short of eligibility by only 10 or 20 points on their credit scores, and paying off some debt balances can quickly improve their numbers.

The $444,000 for the program is leftover money from a $1.5 million appropriation the city made for emergency home and roof repairs after Hurricane Ike.

I guess somewhere along the way I must have screwed up...

I live within my means, pay my bills on time, pay my taxes, my health care, and paid my daughters college education.

I'm already paying other peoples taxes, health care and education, since I do pay taxes;

and now if this foolishness doesn't stop I'll be paying other peoples bills too. :)

You know Woodpecker, I have no problem giving to charity...but in the case of charities I get to chose the charities that do a good job getting the goods and services to the people that need them...with goverment sponsored "charity" I don't have that choice, and the US governemnt does a really poor job at getting the money to the people that need it.

You must be one of the people benefitting from all the handouts...since that would explain why you haven't any problem with them.

What I find REALLY TROUBLING is all that govt money, BILLIONS, going to them crooked bankster bastards. They should have been ALL fired, put on trial and those found guilty get a bullet to the head!

Then it would be far easier to get aid to those who need it, as true christians would want.
Surely you must agree, no?....:cool:
