The article actually does not say that, however,

Canada is most certainly too dependent on trade with the US, no doubt about that. But the American empire is dying a slow but sure death and in our lifetime will most likely go bankrupt and quite probably split into pieces as it can not afford its current lifestyle and most specifically its bloated and corrupt military which is sucking the very life blood out of it.

The demise of the United States is as sure as the sun rising this morning.

Hence why Canada needs to move away from the impending explosion lest we be sucked right down the girgler with the USA. (Difficult simply due to Geography.)

Sadly, I don't think there is anything we can do about it. On the contrary, with our conservative majority, we are certain to be sucked into the next couple of wars.

His company sent him here to spear head an a project. He just didn't notice the no refund, no exchange and no return on his ticket. i suspect hey had their fingers crossed when they told him to call them. I'm just not sure how long after his tenure in J'burg South Africa, it was.

That was cruel fate you are wishing on the poor man. Some of your other commentys are less on point. I'm not sure why we need to be apologists for having the US as are largest customer althought Asia is growing in importance. This will be more key given the US slide. There is also no reason to be ashamed of outperforming the US economically. What the Brits think or don't think is of less consequence although they have made efforts at belt tightening.

Agreed.

If Harper had been PM when Bush II went after Saddam, we would have been right in there like the Americans (for what it would be worth).

Thankfully Johnie Chretien got one thing very very right in his tenure (well, two - the first was appointing Paul Martin as Finance Minister) and that was taking a pass on the hell-hole known as Iraq.

The one saving grace is that Obama is much smarter and learns faster, and knows history much better than Bush II, or the rest of the neocons. I highly doubt that Obama will repeat the mistakes of the previous regime. So unless the Americans are really really stupid (which they are) and elect another Neocon in 2012, then things should stay sane for a while.

Not the same, but hey, whatever makes you happy.
That's what he always says when he insults Canada and then, when asked, can't articulate why he moved here instead of his precious United States where he can tell his kids they can be President or something.

Big old hypocrite, basically. Hates Canada's way of government, etc, but won't explain why he chose to move here, just complains on the Internet.

He's so old, they sent him on the Titanic. They were quite disappointed when he actually arrived. :)

Right, canadians must never critizise the government. That is un-canadian.

Don't get me started on ships sinking. My grandmother was on the Lusitania on the trip to the US before it was sunk on the return voyage. She never talked about it much, but details were kept in her diaries of 30 years that she kept private 'til her death at 99. I think it would be an ugly way to go, drowning in the North Atlantic. Ah shite, I started back to the thread.
