Sat 11 May 1985, terrible day in English football.

I lost a close friend and his father at Valley Parade that day. Another friend was a member of the ambulance service who attended, he quit 2 weeks later and was unable to work for almost 5 years.

Myself, I recall being on a bus, I dont know where to or why, but I saw the column of smoke. To this day it sends shivers down my spine having observed such a tragedy even from a distance.

I managed to watch about 3 minutes of that video.

RIP the 56 who died that day and while your passing may have improved safety in stadia around the world the fact remains it was a totally avoidable incident that unfortunately could not have been avoided without the hindsight that this incident provided.

Wow, that is crazy. You can see by the clock that it took 3 minutes to go from a small fire to an inferno!

I watched this live back in England. It scared the shit out of me. The next week, my dad took me to a football game and I refused to go into the stand. The footage still shocks me to this day.
