they removed it finally and apoloigized after first defending it for some time, but a good example is the recent adolescent tirade against Sarah Palin by Mallick calling Palin a porn star, etc...
brutal. And our taxes pay for this crap?
Oh come now-- A strong public broadcaster is the best antidote for American Style 'news' (Or Glossy Cooperate Propaganda). This is not to say that their should just be state media, but having both state media and corporate media tends to keep each a little more honest.
As far as CBC being librul goes. Most Canadians are centre-left (This election was a Conservative high water mark with 30-some % of the vote.). Given that CBC TV and Newsworld sell adds on could call this following the market.
If you want Americanized centre-right news go watch Global. If you want Canadianized soft social progressive economic centre-right news go watch CTV.
Oh, and I'd love to see that 'tirade'-- CBCs Washington coverage is pretty tame. The pretty much sum up the previous day in about a minute. Now if it was 'the Hour' with George S or something I could buy it. But that's youth oriented, and those damn kids are even more 'librul' than average. So that's once again 'following the market'.
The reasons why Conservatives get so pissy about the CBC is that the CBC resists the bunk notion of equal time even for nutjobs, and using false equivalencies just to be fair. This trickles throughout the rest of the Canadian media. Public private competition can be a good thing. The private media in Canada hates the CBC (because it's a competitor) but the private media does have the fine virtue of keeping the CBC from becoming Pravda-pre-91 or post Putin.
