[FONT=&quot]If I am on the internet 4 to 6 hrs a day on average (not downloading any music or movies to my puter) will I go over 25 gbytes/month?

I mostly just check my various e-mail accounts, Facebook, Kijiji, research info on Wikipedia and of course check out TERB once a day or so. I may click on links and watch a u-tube vid once in a while but never download to my puter.

Of course the Rogers rep told me on the phone I should be OK with their $20./month 25 gigs plan.... but thought to ask here for a more informed and possible more honest answer.

Thanks in advance

If you're not downloading (or anyone else in your household), you should be fine.

If you stream alot of media ie internet radio, and or look at video clips at all adds to your total. I listen to internet radio for hours. And after 30 days it can all add up. Bell told me streaming any form of media, which isn't downloading it to my drive goes toward your total.

Even if you are just watching the videos and not downloading them your computer still has to essentially download them. It uses up the same amount of bandwidth whether you actually download it or stream it, the only difference is the way it is saved to your computer.

Assuming you take the occasional day off, that 25 gb/month might be up to 1 gb/day. A gigabyte is about 1000 megabytes, and the average short utube video might be 5 megabytes, and an average web page might be 100k (there's 1000k in a megabyte).

So, you could conceivably watch up to 200 short videos a day...or 2000 web pages. Keep in mind that longer videos can easily be 50-100 megabytes, or more. A full-length movie file can be 600mb which is what a CD will hold.

I have a limit of 95GB/m with Rogers. I can use that up in 1 week easily if I am not careful. I do a lot of torrent downloading of Poker shows. Funny enough I don't download porn too much, just the occasional video that someone gives links to like a girl pushing veggies out her ass.. I prefer live sex then watching it on a video...anyways.. 25GB/m for you should be plenty.

On a day with no big downloads I might use about 300MB doing stuff you described. That would be 300MB x 30 day = 9000MB = 9GB

Use this link to find out how much you use each day with Rogers as your ISP:

https://your.rogers.com/CustomerCare/UsageService/InternetUsage.asp?usage=0&actionCode=2

You will need to register your internet with your cable account if you have not already.

ie.

Daily Usage Download Usage (MB) Upload Usage (MB) Daily Total (MB)
Saturday, December 06, 2008 250 50 300

This day I used 250 MB download, 50 MB upload for a total of 300MB charged against my 95GB.
