No, it's not what you think. I didn't murder anybody. :p

I skinned my elbow pretty bad this past weekend and I was wearing a bandage at night to keep it from bleeding on my sheets/mattress. Well, last night the bandage somehow came off and now I have a big 'ol red stain that soaked through the bed cover onto the white pad underneath. I've taken care of the bedsheet but I can't put the pad in the wash.

Is there anything I can do to remove/minimize the stain while it's still fairly fresh?

Same as above.....use cold water but also add salt. In an aqueous state, the iron ions found in blood will connect with the chlorine ions.

For stains that don't seem to come out

use hair spray, rub, reapply, rub, then wash with water.

Also great if you get pen marks anywhere and they won't come out through washing or cleaning.

Peroxide. It eats blood. Just pour a little on the stain and then scrud with hot water.

Thanks everyone. I used some warm water (probably should've been cold), a little bit of liquid Tide, and some salt and then padded/rubbed in the direction of the fabric and I've got about 90% of it out. There's still a faint circle around the edge of the stain but I'll keep working at it and it looks 100 times better than it did.

But elbow grease does play a big role! :p

I'll second the peroxide.
I know a nurse who used to use it all the time on her scrubs, worked like a charm.
Skip the hot water though, as it was mentioned, it will set the stain.

Wait a minute.

How sure are we that this is all about a "skinned elbow"?

Have we all just become accessories after the fact?
I dont think we would be unless he admitted something to us...then we helped....I hope.
P.S...cold water for blood

I had a nosebleed when I was with an SP once. Another time an SP got blueberry stains on my sheets. Both times I just used Tide powder in a cold water wash. No scrubbing, soaking, potions, etc. There are no traces of the stains at all.

there is a product

I use with Tide... called OXY Clean ... (white tube blue lid)

The combination of the two cleans any stain out.... I would stick with cold water unless its white then you can use the above mentioned cocktail and add bleach and HOT water all gone... I have a friend who's son is a bleeder and she swears by this combination
