How Worrisome Is This?

Just wanted to ask something. I understand (I think) that if you pick up a girl on the street if someone sees it they can notify the police and a letter can be sent to your home. Just wanted an opinion on this:

Waiting outside a convenience store (mid-day) for a girl; pulls up with her friend driving stops near you, wals past you you, utters "follow me in a few minutes" and she proceeds to walk down the street, behind a building to a motel. I follow three-four minutes later, and 25-30 minutes I leave, walk back to my car (still at the convenience store) and drive away. Am I at a big risk here? Could someone have been eyeing the scenario the whole time, and if they were do they have grounds to call cops, or was it to vague?

Any help would really be greatly appreciated.

P.S.-I'll post a review of my experience in the next couple of days.

Thanks.

Did you at least buy something at the store to at least appear you were using their parking lot for their business?

On the issue of getting a letter... I thought the initiative that Ottawa Police was doing was sending a letter to your house when they observed you... not just any random person reporting...

And talking to a SW in public has more risk than dealing with an outcall service... if a cop does catch you in the act, they can grab you under the communication laws... how often does this happen?? I don't know... but the risk is there versus doing things behind closed doors...

Well I'm no lawyer, but . . .

Talking to a girl on the street is not illegal. Talking to a girl on the street, and then taking a walk back to her place with her is not illegal. Talking to a girl on the street, walking back to her place, and having sex with her is not illegal.

Cops can not arrest you for something they think you might have done.

And they sure as hell can't arrest you for something that someone else says they think you might have done.

And if they can't arrest you, then how are they going to figure out who you are, and what your address is, so that they can send a letter to your house.

Read the paper this morning. The cops are sending letters to many POTENTIAL Johns when the perceive there MAY be a relationship between a hooker and a john. While this may be illegal - note in B.C. this procedure was struck down and discontinued - the point is the cops are trying to scare the john. How many, when caught or having received a letter, are going to come out in public and fight in an open courtroom?

Same article in the paper also said they had the John's names - verified, etc - by talking with them hence it shouldn't be a surprise to any recipient of the letter. So far nobody has objected to the letter to the privacy commission but then again - how many people would think to do that let alone go down that road 'on the record'? So - if they have the John's name, as per the article, then I doubt you have anything to worry about.

In Ottawa, I think its pretty clear that letters are sent to people that the police have stopped. In Gatineau, though, there is something called "Operation Cyclope" where citizens may report activities related to prostitution and the police may follow up. I'm not sure about the details of the Gatineau situation -- maybe someone else knows more?

No, but we all know communication for the purpose of prostitution in public is illegal, and if you're caught by a cop talking to a SW known to them, you're gonna be in an awkward spot... I guess my point is that using an outcall service is much less risky (legally) assuming the SP is of age, etc and even though enforcement of SWs may be hit and miss, you do technically run that risk if you choose to talk to ladies on the street...

Watch out in Hull sector...

I have a friend of mine who is saying that in Hull hot sector (Leduc-Frontenac) the cops have rent an appartment to watch SW over there.

I'm not sure for this one but if they rent an appartment for spying it will probably for crack dealer.

Short story, i pick up a SW at 7h00 in the morning in that area about 3 weeks ago. The SW told me to park in a private parking so it woulden be long. But the thing is that another car saw me parking and dident came out of the car. So the woman came near my car and since the windows are tinted she never seen what was in the car. But i figure she probably took my plate number, even if she dident right nothing with a pencil or whatever, and pass by. I was kind of panic so the SW made what she was paid for and we left in a hurry.

But that was maybe 3 weeks ago and dident eared nothing since...

See ya...

Is this a hot spot? Or would you think this area should be okay?

Thanks.

yes, that is a hot spot, in fact it was the first area (Hintonburg) that the cops got the community involved in to try to get the SW thing under control last year. A lot less there now than used to be.

But as pointed out in an earlier post, the cops would have spoken to you before sending a letter so you should have no worries.
