This is so sad.
If it hits as forecast, it will fucking destroy that beautiful countryside and country that is Jamaica.
Those hills and mountains will accelerate the 160 mph winds to over 200 mph and simply RIP the trees out of the ground. When the British Virgin Islands got hit by Hurricane Irma in 2017 it fucking devastated the trees and every little beachside bars, restaurants, shack and the Bitter End Yacht Club hotel that made the BVI's such an incredible yachting holiday. The Bomba Shack up in the hills above Emerald Bay where I first had a (mild) magic mushroom milkshake was DESTROYED! All the pics of bare titted girls sitting on Bomba's lap for decades were blown and washed away. I've been there once since, and it wasn't near the same experience.
Jamaica will also suffer worse because it has big mountains that will get hit with several FEET of rainfall and wash off the soil and cause flash flooding and landslides.
Jamaica and rural Jamaicans barely survive on what they have managed to build up in their little homes, farms, restaurants, hotels, roads and infrastructure. This is going to fucking kill the country.
I regret not going to take in Jamaica's beauty in my life. I really hope it is spared somehow. Not for me but for the Jamaican people.
