OK, so I am a recent convert to highspeed internet service. I went with Bell and was pretty happy till last Saturday. I got up and all was well, I went out and returned to..a flashing DSL light. I called it in, the said they'd test from there end and see. After a few hours it was back on. Happy ending right? No..stay with me here..it gets stupid. Sunday around 5 30pm it goes dwn again, same deal, flashing DSL light. I call in Again, they arrange for a tech on monday. He comes, checks things out, gets a good solid connect on his equip. I'm then informed its my modem. Ok, fine I think to myself...he's gotta have one right, he's the service guy! NO.
So I call in again and tell them he said I needed a modem. They say 3 to 5 business days! I ask, cant I go grab one at a bell phone center? NO. Frustrated I tell them how ridiculous I find this all but that yes they should send the modem. Later I decide I want to properly complain so I call back. I'm then told there is such a thing as a rush order and that one will be placed on my behalf. I think..great it'll arrive Wed. Something made me call in Wednesday to check on things. I was now told it didn'y look like Anything had been sent out yet! By now I'm outraged, and thinking...it was them that dropped the ball so they have to make it right...right? NOOO. At this point I'm talking to a supervisor who I thought by virtue of his position could do something for me. This illusion was shattered for me when he says...all I can do is put the order in now, but it'll still be 3 -5 days! I'm freaking now, trying to reason out wit this guy that its wd and despite more contact with bell then I've had in years I'm no further ahead then I was on Saturday! I explain how this in unacceptable especially since I was under the impression the process was well underway. He just tows the company line. I say can you at least rush it? He says, theres no such thing as a rush!
Finally I'm passed to a manager and he at least acted human. I was assured there was a rush available. Anyway my modem arrived today and all is well but I'm pretty disgusted. Not only that, but I kept thinking, how the fuck do I not have a job? If these idiots are tech support and supervisors...how big a deal can a wheelchair be? I'm still smarter....clearly!

I have this happen a couple of times but it took at least a month and not just a couple of weeks.

Once a tech tried to put a rish on something for me and it was flagged as an improper procedure but all they did was cancel the order so I had to phone and request it again.

When thing work they are ok... When they don't god help you.

Good to see you back up and running. I have Rogers as well, they are not any better.

It takes 3 to 5 days to get the order from India to Canada.

Is that where their phone people are based?? I did notice a high percentage of he people I spoke to had Indian accents. Not that I care, but in an area such as tech service clearity is an asset...no? It wasnt always easy making out what was being said. It also just bugged me knowing if I was a new customer I could just grab a modem in store. Yes theres a waiting period there too but I'll bet it can be waived. I know once you plug in the modem they can set it up from there end remotely. All that nonsense about "ohh we can just give u any modem, we have to track it" Ya...I plug it in and you do your thing, done.

I had problems with Bell once too, and I told them they had several options, 1. The next call would be coming from The Star, Global News, the CRTC, and my lawyer . I had spent 18 hours on the phone with them over 4 days, once I got it into their minds I wasn't playing I ended up getting some Vice President of that divison who in turn shook the trees, and had my product delivered within two days. You have to keep track of names, employee id numbers, times when you call, and be willing to push them to the wall.

Good luck with everything.

My experience with Bell is similar to Irishguy. They were slow to react and didn't seem to care much that their service sucked! It's never their fault and YOU end up spending too much time trying to resolve a problem or without service. I can't believe that they wouldn't set up some method of allowing customers to pick up equipment if the need is great.

"Rogers is giving the service". ?? Take a pole on that one friend. Rogers service sucks. The internet access seems to work most of the time but if you run into issues try calling them. Waits of over 40 minutes are normal and then they always want to send a tech to your house on everything.
Yes, but it's still better service than Bell is offering.

Rogers is far better then DSL Sympatico.

Rogers cable internet is far better then Bell Sympatico's DSL service. The speeds Bell advertises is never accurate. Atleast Rogers keeps its word on the speed they offer. And don't get fooled by the ad from Bell; "With Sympatico you never share your line, therefore your alway's fast" Thats bullshit!!! On my street almost everyone has Rogers cable internet. Proof from a friend that works for Rogers as a Technician. Anyways, if you are looking for better speeds and performance I suggest Cable internet. Customer service from Rogers is also not that bad. I never had problems getting through to tech support. And with the new service coming out shortly you can be downloading at blazing speeds of 18Mbps and uploading at 1Mbps from the Nitro Internet service offered by Rogers. The west coast is already offering this service, you can check out www.shaw.ca for more info. Where in the hell could DSL's copper wires support this kind of speed?
