A scientist bases his or her opinion on data. As they learned about the virus, they changed their opinion.Fauci, the guy who has been a virologist for roughly half a century and said masks wouldn't make a difference at first, now says they're a matter of life and death lol.
Precisely!A scientist bases his or her opinion on data. As they learned about the virus, they changed their opinion.
That isn't what happened. It was based on PPE resources not the science regarding the virus or its spread....As they learned about the virus, they changed their opinion.
Fauci, the guy who has been a virologist for roughly half a century and said masks wouldn't make a difference at first, now says they're a matter of life and death lol.
Scarce resource at first, needed to go to the front lines. There's a war on, moron....That isn't what happened. It was based on PPE resources not the science regarding the virus or its spread.
- "I don't regret anything I said then because in the context of the time in which I said it, it was correct. We were told in our task force meetings that we have a serious problem with the lack of PPEs"

Fauci says he doesn't regret telling Americans not to wear masks at the beginning of the pandemic
Fauci said his early guidance was due to scientists' limited understanding of asymptomatic spread and a desire to preserve masks for healthcare workers.www.businessinsider.com
So it wasn't based on virology at all. Is that what you are saying?Scarce resource at first, needed to go to the front lines. There's a war on, moron....
This is all fine and good. I am asking on what particular aspects of the virology changed. Resource management may very well have been required but I am interested in how the data and science supported a change. Also, who is actually wearing certified PPE? All I see is cloth masks. Where is the science these are useful? The main problem was you had a president who was fully briefed yet he downplayed the danger and undercut the scientists continually who were stunned anyone would do that. And a usa team that discarded the protocols developed over Bush jr and Obama. Thus shortage of PPE, uncertainty as to nature of virus (remember it was novel!) And the chinese fucking over WHO and US scientists by holding back vital information so as to allow the west to more quickly ascertain the nature of the threat. Thus Fauci had to make decisions based on the facts in front of him. PPE to first responders was the most essential thing. And as those facts change, so do recommendations.
Ideological reasoning is starting w the answer, then seeking confirmatory information. Like supply side economics.
The problem if you really traced it down was with China and WHO who tried to downplay the virus right from the start...It was a global catastrophe...you're trying to implicate Trump but this was more than just Trump, Pelosi encouraged people to go out and mingle at China Town, Gov't Cuomo did the same...but no let's focus on orange man bad...The main problem was you had a president who was fully briefed yet he downplayed the danger and undercut the scientists continually who were stunned anyone would do that.
