Burned out bulb above my desk at home, changed bulbs in this fixture before, used chair, shifted weight I guess, down I go. whacked my back on the floor and my head off the stairwell post

T12 moderate, stable compression fracture and a mild concussion

Been 5 weeks now, head is fine, back still hurts when I stand for a while, tons of physio exercises to do, getting super frustrated

Anyone else have a compression fracture? How long to heal?

The older you are the longer the healing time.

Falling on your back hurts quite a bit. I fell on ice and hurt for at least a month, it maybe a couple for you, although with physio it may go faster.

My left foot slipped on black ice while getting out of my car and I landed on my right side. Bruised ribs on my right side hurt for at least a month.

Was the chair on wheels? Now you have a valid excuse to hit up massage parlours.

Ouch, that's nasty. You got away with one. I know a couple people who've fallen and the outcome was far worse than your injury. One is able to walk two years later, with the help of a walker and the other will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

You likely have some soft tissue injury as well as the compression fracture which could take several months to fully heal. My only recommendation is, when you go to physio and they give you a list of exercises to do at home, do them, religiously. It's guaranteed to pay off in the long run.

Get well soon.
