Ever since the latest update issued a week or so ago from Microsoft (which I downloaded and installed) IE has been acting up. More times than I care I have bben getting the following 505 Gateway Timeout message

Gateway Timeout
The following error occurred:
Code:
A DNS lookup error occurred because the request timed out during the lookup.

Anybody else experiencing this or am I an isolated incident?
What could it be?

Yeah I use that too but sometimes I want to listen to streaming audio only available within IE .. (at least my Netscape is not playing Windows Media). Also I design in IE as that is the dominate broswer today (sorry but appeasing the masses) .. does anyone get that message?

BTW, I am on Rogers cable (if that has anything to do with it).

If you are designing web content than please run it in as many browers as you can find. Mozilla, Opera, IE, What ever an Apple runs, konqueror on linux just to name a few. There are a lot more browers being used than you think. IE is IMO some of the worst software out there. I find the way it is intermixed with Outlook Express especially annoying. If what ever you are designing runs in IE then please fix it. (camera pulls back as mufflicker climbs down from his soap crate) ;-)

Regardless of how good it is, and how many others are out there, if the work is being done on deadline it's generally just gonna be 100% compatible w/IE.
Just the way of the world, I'm afraid, as the ROI for the minor browser and OSs is frequently not enough to justify the effort.

True....just can't get away with IE.
I use opera most of the time, but for a few sites which are heavy in media streaming, they only work good with IE.......not what I like, but just gotta learn how to live with the dark force.

And yes, Bill sucks.
