I sure hope they let you pay if off in installments, wihtout cutting off you service, of course! I guess the more you owe, the better off you are.

LOL that's funny especially since I recently had a problem with them cutting off my service because the rep who signed me up, never put the 3 months free service offer on my bill so when it came in, it had the full price on it.

Someone told me his cable service has not been cut off, even though he cancelled it and paid the last Rogers bill more than a year ago. He has ExpressVu (he claims it's through his phone line without a satellite dish, something I've never heard of), which has Boston U.S. network affiliates instead of the Buffalo ones, and occasionally he will temporarily reconnect the cable to watch something on a Buffalo channel.

Rogers cable had been left working when I moved into my present location, but it only took them about 5 weeks before I received a notice that it would be cut off the next day if I did not call them to arrange payment for it. Is it possible for them to determine from the outside if nothing is connected to the cable jacks inside a house or apartment, and if so do they intentionally leave the service operating if they think no one is using it?

I guess I don't pay attention to all those Bell ads with the animated beavers and Norm MacDonald's voice. I assumed there was still no competition between terrestrial TV signal providers, with Rogers (or Cogeco, etc.) having exclusive rights within their own designated areas.

Yeah they can tell if you have hooked up more than 1 tv to a single line or are getting cable when you shouldn't be. Haven't a clue as to how they do it.

As for Expressvu they have been offering their service through phone lines for a few years now.
I don't know this for a fact but I would have to say that the move tv's or cable boxes you have connected to the line causes a higher draw on the signal. Hence why it used to be if you connected 3 tvs to the cable without an amplifier on the 3rd, the signal was severely degraded.....

As for having a reason for them to shut it off, it's all digital now so it is merely going into software and virtually flipping a switch....but in years gone by it wasn't that uncommon to move into an apartment and find the cable still working.....

they measure the signal strength.

You can fool them by buying an RF DA which you could probably find at any radio shack.

Or so I've heard...

I think that all Rogers Wireless subscribers, Starchoice & Rogers Cable subscribers should withhold payment for 3 months.... just to see Rogers brought to its knees

yea I owe Rogers money to and as long you call them and make payment arrangements they will keep your services running.

I have VOIP from them, home phone, high speed internet and cable but I only outsanding by 400$ I am not really worried about it since I try and give them 100 every 2 weeks.

and when they claim your disconnected you still have basic cable service.

Know someone that has high speed internet line active when he moved into the place. Just don't hook up to the internet and send out a signal, if you do they know that the line is live and they will probably disconnect the line.

The line is just use now to receive tv cable service for free, cause basic cable service signal comes through the highspeed internet line too.

Now I can see a bunch of you going off to give it a try all at once now.
