Hello:

I found a couple of online retailers for my inkjet cartridges finally. I bought a Canon Pixma MP530, which I really like, except for the fact that to replaces all 5 cartridges runs about $90 at Staples etc. The salesperson there said it's unlikely they will have the generic ones anytime, as Canon keeps changing them, so you have to buy theirs.

Anyway, every once in a while I search, and finally found a couple of sites that have knock offs available. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these people and their products? Here they are:

http://www.123inkcartridges.ca/

http://www.inkjetsuperstore.ca/

Thanks for your help!

There are places you can refill many of these cartridges cheaper....like island refills at several malls

These seem like good sources - I just ordered from inkjetsuperstore -
I used to buy knockoff Ctgs from a local guy - $7.50 each - no tax, no del - but he doesn't always have what I needed.

I had bad experiences from the refillers except for one guy out on the Queensway at Cawthra in Mississauga - the mall joints suck.

I have not tried the two companies you listed but have used Re-inks and Inkjet Oasis with very few problems. Don't believe the BS about the generic cartridges ruining you printer, I usually use 60 to 80 sets of cartridges before the printer craps out. So a little quick math, 60 sets of 4 = 120 cartridges, save $10.00 each = $1200.00. Printers are about $150.00, so after 10000 pages or more what more can you want.

I have used the refills but they tend to leak.

I have a Canon Pixma MP780.

I have two sets of ink cartridges that I get refilled at an Island Inkjet mall location.

www.islandinkjet.com

I have been using the printer and the cartridge refillers for a couple of years and am happy with both.

I personally try to stay with the name brand ink cartridges. If you get re-fills, you don't know where the ink comes from, or what quality there is. And yes you do get what you pay for, some people are just born frugal.

How do you know if the black you get is dye or pigment base?

If your printing photographs, stay clear. Under fast-pace aging environments, (Ozone controlled environment) with high UV, the inks only last 5 years on paper.

way out in left field
I used these guys for my epson and seemed to get the same quality and volume from the cartridges at about 1/10th the price.

In fact, I ran out one friday at noon, ordered them online and they were at my door Monday morning. I was impressed.

In that "override" link I noticed that Lexmark tried to sue an off brand cartridge supplier for copyright infringement. I'm glad they lost because lexmark makes some of the cheapest printers but have some of the MOST expensive cartridges. I always warn people to check the prices of the toner/cartridges before buying a printer. Often the refills are more than the actual printer. I know in some cases it is better to buy another printer (complete with a new cartridge) than buy another refill......

With laser cartridges you can also try removing the toner cartridge and shaking it up. Often the toner sticks to the sides. One office I worked in we'd get a month more printing after doing this.......
