I highly doubt that is the date. Apple usually presents the product and then allows a few weeks of build-up and time to get ready for the release. We haven't even seen what it looks like and except it to be on shelves in a week.

I doubt it will be on the shelves in a week, they typically announce new products with a future delivery date and sometimes a pre-order period.
