iPod as Flash Drive...More ???s

Morgan Ellis

Well, the saga continues. I can't seem to figure out how to use my iPod as a Flash drive, and it's making me nuts.

It shows up under drives when I access the device manager, but tells me there are no drivers installed for it. It doesn't show up at all under the 'my computer' folder.

Does the iPod only work as a Flash drive with Mac? I'm trying to use it with my laptop....

Confused yet again,

Morgan

You will need to format the drive as an MS DOS drive in order for WinDoze to recognize it as a removable media device. It would work normally on a MAC even after the reformatting. If you have the IPOD MINI (4GB) you can use FAT16 without any problems. If you've got the 20GB or 40GB model, you will need to format it with FAT32 as there are size limitations for FAT16.

Enjoy....

I think the iPod interface on the PC SUCK ASS! It's crap and not very intuitive... surprising for a something coming from Apple. Then again, their new OS and paid patches are a joke. Sorry Mac folks, not to bash Macs but I think the days of OS9 was much better and simpler. X has its perks but it sure has its share of demons.. or daemons!
