Is it just me?......

Is just me or do any of the others members here feel uncomfortable knowing that there is an advertiser on this board that is selling pin-hole size cameras and infrared nightvision spy cameras?

I am not trying to tell anyone how to run their business, but I don't think that this is the best place to market their products.

Regardless I have warned the ladies at GOE to keep an eye out for anything that looks out of the ordinary.

nicole and lindsae make excellent points.
Products like that are made initially for the "right" reasons, however majority of the time, they end up being used in a manner that they werent created for.

Knowing Fred as the stand up guy that he is, I don't think there was any ill intent. Nor do i think there was any on the part of the advertiser.

Perhaps, to be the devil's advocate here, the intent was to market these tools to sp's and in-call services as a means to protect themselves. I imagine that pinhole cameras can be installed in door peepholes and can easily be connected to a video monitor to survey any exterior of an establishment. Naturally, in the hands of the wrong person, there can be much cause for concern.

There's a new product that detects hidden video cameras as well. Apparently a small company somewhere in the southern states is distributing it. Perhaps these guys here have access to the product. Best of all, the thing's cheap. $40 (U.S.) bucks puts one of those suckers in your hands and they apparently work very well.

Why would you worry about one advertiser on this board.. there are several hundred businesses in Toronto that sell them

ADI, Surecam, Excel2000, Spyshop Toronto, Vtech etc

The topics brought up about incalls and using these cameras is one reason I won't go to an incall that isn't at a hotel or ?? where hiding something like that is difficult.

I once lived next to an MP and had to take the bell canada guy down to the service room which happened to be under the mp. (it was a row house type setup with businesses on the ground floor).

While he was messing around in the phone service room I was waiting outside when I saw this tv sitting on the floor (it was on). I went over to see what was what and a vcr was attached to the TV and it showed 4 views of the rooms upstairs. Yet another reason why I don't go to mp's either.....

This doesn't make me paranoid, just if I want to make a porno i'd at least like to know it!

I do feel for the ladies who expose themselves to stuff like this all the time but it does go both ways (in some respect).

If a person intends on making a recording surreptitiously, then you are vulnerable no matter where you go - hotels included. These pin-hole cameras are available built-in / concealed in a wide variety of normal looking appliances, such as clock radios, smoke detectors, even sunglasses.

Thankfully, while surveillance techniques become more sophisticated, so to does the field of counter-surveillance - just like the arms race isn't it?
