Is it okay to shave at the gym?

Given that its a communal area that's probably full of bacteria would you shave at the gym?

I only ask because I have never done it but im having to conserve water over the dry season and I thought I could save water by going to the gym and washing my hair and shaving my legs there but I don't want to get an infection.

Obviously im going to use my own razors and products but I don't want to get like a staph infection.

Do people shave at the gym without any issues? Should I be wearing something on my feet too? I haven't showered at a gym since I was a kid.

I don't know about the rest, but you should definitely protect your feet. I got a plantar wart on my foot from a YMCA shower when I was a kid and it was extremely difficult to get rid of.

I think it would depend on how often they clean it, and how well they clean it and mostly how often is it used.
For sure wear sandels or some other kind of protection for your feet regardless.

Me too. Got it in the steam room. Worst thing, when I read about it, it was most likely herpes from some dudes anus. He sat naked, i sat one row above him, my foot was where his butthole had been.

Learned my lesson. Never go anywhere without slippers, never sit anywhere naked. It was painful AF. Had to be frozen with liquid nitrogen.

I wouldn't really know what other ladies do. Women's bathrooms have stalls. Im not sure what men's bathrooms are like.

Im not on a rez im just rural and the well could stand to be upgraded. I live 5 minutes from a gym and I figured for the really dry times I could take nice long hot showers at the gym. Im on the fence about shaving though.

Ill just have to suck it up for a week or two and shave with the water off.

I love long hot showers though so I'll probably still take long showers at the gym.

Thats not a bad idea im not quite there yet but I might be getting pretty close if it doesnt rain on Sunday.

I have had occasion where i have had dual activity days where I had to change my clothes from business to casual or casual to business in a public toilet. I have to bring a flyer or newspaper with me to stand on while I change my clothes. I would not even pick up the newspaper after I am done from the floor that is most likely been sprayed with piss.
When you shave there is always a chance of knicks and cuts, there is the possibility of catching a flesh eating disease. I heard a story about a guy the put his towel down on the sink counter and he later wiped his face with the towel and caught an eye infection and lost an eye.

Plantar warts =/= herpes.

and the type of HPV that causes plantar warts is different from the one that causes genital warts.

I would never shave at the gym. Gym showers are to wash the sweat off to make you presentable to go back out into the civilized world. I’d always wear sandals or something on the feet at a gym or other communal shower.

Been doing van life to BC and back. Shower and shave every day at gym.

1) bring shower shoes
2) shave in the shower all the easy spots
3) trim for accuracy at the sink for touch ups and clean lines

Most gyms have private showers with nooks to put your hygiene supplies on , lockers and private change rooms if you need them.

My only beef is with people who take pictures of themselves in the change room. I've had a couple of conversations with gentlemen on how it's disrespectful to take pictures when other men are in the change room.

i both shave and shower at the gym, you have a shower, you have hot water ,your paying for certain amenities why not?
