Wouldn't muslims be better off as well as everyone else in the world. Instead of kill infidels what if it said love them as your own siblings or something along that path

I'll +1 that sentiment. Still plenty of things in the Bible that support what Canada sees as evil too that could go. Of course the reality is that most people don't follow their religious texts to the letter (if it is even possible through all the contradictory ideas).

How many Mormon suicide/murder bombers are there?
NONE
The radical minority needs to be dealt with by the complacent majority

That’s a great idea! You should start your own religion.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Meadows_Massacre

Mount Meadows Massacre

FLDS polygamy sects commit child rape/incest, human trafficking, forced child labor, forced marriage, and the list goes on. Young men are often banished when they become mature, since they are competition.

The mainstream LDS church is more of a corporate cult, but they are known for covering up things like sexual abuse and domestic violence very well due to their immense wealth. They run Utah and use their money if they want something done.

Right now there is a movement involving some inside and outside of the church that are trying stop Bishops from asking children about inappropriate things like if they masturbate, get horny, had sex etc. (Especially the masturbation stuff)

This is my problem with religion. Faith believes cherry pick what they do and don't follow, what they will and will not judge on based on the day of the week, it's fucked.

Religion is a personal choice and by such a privilege in my opinion. Not a right. However I do feel you have the right to practice that religion WITHIN REASON in the privacy of your own home. Public domain, publicly funded ANYTHING, etc is off limits to faith based policy.

A fine example of a sect that showed the benefits of replacing/updating the Bible. Nonetheless their past history includes their War with the US of A, and a bunch of child sex-abuse (not to mention a Diaspora, but what religion doesn't have one or more). Did you really mean to support Jessica and basket's point?

Example of what? The Bible has not been updated and it does not need to be, but the Biblical jurisprudence has been changed and updated, numerous times. Hence, there's no such thing as eye for an eye or stoning of the Shabbat breakers in Judaism or burning witches in Christianity. What Islam requires is a retreat from the political arena, maybe a reformation.

Except...........

Islam HAS done all the same stuff Christianity has in terms of revising how the Quran is interpreted. And most Muslims do not interpret the Quran and its tenets literally. Your issue is with radical fundamentalist splinter groups like Salafis and extremist writers like Sayyam Qutb who push the nutso idea that things were better in the 800 AD's and we should all go back there.

That nonsense has caught on with radical Islamic sects and has sourced the terrorism that we are dealing with today.

Mainstream Islam - like modern Christianity - takes the position that legal codes written for 7th Century Bedouin nomads have little application in the 20th Century.

I could add that there are equally bizarre Christian interpretations. Virtually every Evangelical Christian in the Southern States believes that Darwin is bullshit and the universe was created in 7 days for instance. Now that view does not support violence to non believers. But it is absolutely nuts to hold those ideas in the Twenty-first Century.

There is all kinds of nasty shit about stoning and raping in the Old Testament that we barely realize is there - because no modern pastor would ever refer to it in a sermon. But no Christian advocates re writing the Bible because the Bible is God's word and totally true and holy. Except we ignore all the nasty, embarrassing parts whenever we feel like it.

No, my issue is with the Islam in the political arena. Religion dictating laws and imposing authority on a society. Islam teachings in such societies are the root problem of all the evil created by that religion because, being a religion, it is beyond reproach and exempt from questioning. All societies have crazies of some sort, in the Islamic world the crazies are offlicially sanctioned.

The people who still follow Joseph Smith's original teachings are still around doing all the nasty things that I just mentioned.

I should have added an eye rolling emoji.

It is clear the intent of the OP, I was just equally playing along. Kind of got lost along the way apparently...

Right. Just because several nations still practice those punishments doesn't mean they believe in them right?

Aceh province just recently did a series of whippings just for being gay. This is in secular Indonesia.

The more Muslim the nation, the harder line they take.

I wonder how they got busted for being gay? Maybe a baker reported them for requesting a gay wedding cake?

That's a great idea, I think the bible should be edited as well. How can any religion preach hate and intolerance?

Have you looked at the impact of political Christianity in the US, especially in the south? For example the vast majority of the anti-LGBT arguments in the US (including from the VP) is from a biblical Christian basis. Same as the anti-abortion crowd who HAVE a history of using violence to achieve what they interpret as god's will.

Religion in politics is not limited to Islam.

I hope this comment is tongue and cheek because otherwise we have a real pot/kettle thing going on here.
