TEHRAN, July 14--Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday any aggression against Syria means aggression against the Islamic world.
In a telephone talk with Syrian leader Bashar Assad on Thursday, he said, “A crushing response awaits the Zionist regime if it attacks Syria.“
The two presidents discussed current regional developments namely Israeli offensives in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon that have left hundreds killed and several thousand injured, IRNA reported.
Criticizing the international community for its deafening silence over the recent regional crisis, Ahmadinejad expressed his deep concern over the brutal attacks by Zionist forces on the Palestinian and Lebanese targets that have spread havoc and has the potential to spread to other Middle East nations.
Bashar said the Zionist regime is responsible for the current crisis and violation of the year-long ceasefire in Occupied Palestine.

I don't trust Saudi Arabia for one minute. They say what looks good but they hate Israel as much as anyone.

As for the EU... many are still angry (especially the Norwegians, who used to be very very sympathic of the Palestinian people and gave millions of dollars in aid) over the cartoon fiasco and when mobs burnt down the Norwegian Embassy in Gaza (nice reversal of wide spread blanket stereotyping and not recoginizing who your friends are)

Must be a slow news day in Iran. I guess no more stories about women beaten up because they weren't veiled. Isn't it about time Iran suffered another earthquake. Wonder what the international reponse will be next time Iran needs help. I think western countries should take a strong stand next time a despot needs help. It's not like it's appreciated. Foreign Ministry Spokesman of IRAN said Sunday that I.R. of Iran is standing by the Syrian and Lebanese people and the Zionist regime will face unimaginable losses if it attacks Syria.

To view Israelis and Arabs the same, one has to ignore a great many differences. In Arab lands women, gays, christians and jews are at best second class citizens who are subject to persecution. In Israel even Arabs can vote, a woman was prime minister and there is an openly gay member of Israels' parliament (the kenneset).

It is the stated goal of many Arab nations to murder every Israeli. It is not the goal of Israel towards their Arab counterparts.

There is no moral equivalency between these two groups.
