I'm no historian, but based on my knowledge of some issues of that time, many/most are what the entire country/USA will be living under, just the names/titles will be different.

Instead of wealthy plantation owners controlling the wealth of the south, we will now have an impending oligarchy controlling things/politicians.

Instead of owning plantations they own enormous media/tech empires. Musk, Bezos, Zuckerberg. Banking and financial institutions

The economy. The plantation owners said they need slaves to be able for their businesses to survive. Current big business said they need cost/wage control to survive. They need laws to control the unions.

Only whites could vote. In the last few elections we've seen the GOP (the good ole boys) attempt to suppress votes and rejig districts to favour them.

And as far as slavery, our (North American) lives are controlled by the government and big business. Our destiny is in their hands as the wage disparity continues to grow. They control the destiny of probably over 90% of us. It's definitely worse in the US where a huge percent of people live paycheck to paycheck and their healthcare is not ensured. But at this point, those of us not in halls of power calling the shots, we are the slaves.

The South has indeed risen again. The South is ascending. It only took an extra 160 years.

It was already like that. You want to know the slave owners that did this to us. Master Bush and Master Obama. The gap between the rich and middle class is so big right now and got like that under the deep state started from their administrations. The tech titans suppressed Trump since 2016 and now they’ve all switched knowing that they have no choice. You can’t have Trump come and on day 2 of his second term write shit like this.

Heck, Master Biden provided us with all the cheap migrant labor we could ever need too. We could throw a dollar at them to pick cotton.m and clean the shit from our ass.

I can agree with the concepts that you present but I may disagree with the time frame. This took longer than 20-25 years.

So Abraham Lincoln, slaughterer of the southerners, who also
destroyed the livelihood of tens of thousands of civilians many
of whom non-slave-owners did not win the war after all.

Shack both Orwell and Huxley arrived at the same premise.

The American Empire is following in the footsteps of the Roman Empire. The Roman Republic eventually fell after the Senate sided with the landowners to reject Gracchi Reforms.

There's a lot of similarities in the falls of empires. But at the time of the civil war, the US was not an empire. It was a divided yet rapidly developing strong country but barely 100 years old.

I guess I was thinking of a more specific point in time, when it dawned on me how the US has been shifting more and more to the right, and how we always liken the deep south being hard core, god fearing conservatives and that naturally lead me to thinking about the civil war and the fight over slavery and how they compare to what divides the US (and us because of proximity) currently.

For me to compare us to actual slaves is a huge insult to actual slaves. But in a metaphorical way of speaking, even though we may have more rights and free will than the slaves, to a great extent, government and big business are our masters and we must follow their rules as they dictate them to us.

As time goes on, more and more of Orwell's predictions are coming true, just not quite as quickly. trump would love to see his deep state spying on his perceived enemies through their computers and devices 24/7 to make sure nobody speaks ill of him. I even think his prediction of there being only 3 controlling superstates is the correct number but it will be more of an ethnoreligious divide.

A white/Judeo-Christian/Euro power.
An Arab/Muslim power.
And finally an Asian/Oriental power being the least religious.

The whites would be the first ones eliminated based on the numbers and that they would be too moralistic and not ruthless enough.

He may have won the physical war but the winner of the ideological war, at this point in time, seems to be the South, IMO.

Geezus.

The Great, Great, Great, Great Grandsons of the Confederacy attempt to rewrite history again!

Coming soon to a theater near you, their monumental new silent film classic:

"Dearth of a Nation!"

I like the framing , "The North won the war, the South won the peace."

The basics of this argument has been around for a long time, with people disagreeing over when they actually won.
(Was it after Reconstruction failed? Was it just before 1900? The 1920s? Was it now? Was it Reagan?)

You can also take the view that the war never ends, and you just have periods of power between groups that swings back and forth, which might be truer.
