And we all remember do we, that Mag-lev was proposed for the SRT out to Scarboro. Back when Bill Davis's government thought we in Ontario could someday lead the world in improved transit technology, if his government used our projects as investment opportunities to kickstart it. But you gotta keep kickin' in the cash or the start up starts to fail.
Now the safe-bet conventional technology SRT's falling apart, and we're still imagining digging really, really expensive holes—we still don't know where to put the Scarboro one yet—is the only conceivable way to get ourselves moving.
Somehow I don't think the Japanese were ever stupid enough to imagine they'd pay for their mag-lev by cutting waste.
