I love Pat's Homestyle Jamaican (Near QUeen and Bathurst)

Ackee Tree is pretty good but a bit overpriced (Spadina and Queen)

Whatever you do, do NOT go to The Jerk Spot. Every time I eat that, I feel like death the next day.

These are some of the better known ones. Me personally I would do Albert's as they have been on many lists 20+ years.

When the mood and weather are right, some of the shops around Eglinton/Marlee/Oakwood fire up charcoal cookers out front. That can be a real treat. Raps is good for that, so is Spence's, almost next door.

I hope Albert is just branching out. He's opened up downtown before without closing the StClair shop.

A shop near me did that for a few days last summer. They told me they got shut down by bylaw officers. It might have been a licencing issue, since they are a food store, rather than a restaurant. Disappointing all the same. The neighbourhood could use some extra flavour on the street.

He smokes it up to 6 a.m. on the weekends

Thanks for all the suggestions...Went to Pat's last night and ordered the large Jerk Chicken.

5 small to medium pcs of chicken.
Rice and Beans with a small amount of Curry sauce placed on top.
Slaw

Thought the Jerk Chicken could have been a a bit spicier and the pieces could have had a little more meat. Enjoyed the Rice and Beans and slaw.
Total cost $11.13 with tax.
Repeat..Yes, but going to try Alberts next.

Where is Alberts Real Jamaican Foods located on Queen Street ? I know that Pats Homestyle is at Queen St./Bathurst (used to be called Alberts until a couple of years ago it changed to Pats). So is this Alberts Real Jamaican that moved from St. Clair to Queen St. in the Queen West area and does anyone know the address ? I want to check it out. Thanks.

GTA
The best one in the entire GTA is Mr Jerk on Derry Road in Mississauga near the Airport. I have been going there since 1995 and their food quality has been consistently good since then.

I go to above location quite often and it is good. However, no place tops the other franchise location which used to be right near the Yonge/Dundas corner on the north side on Dundas. They tore down the whole corner and it is now the ADIDAS store and the AMC multiplex cinemas. It was over 10 years ago when all the Ryerson students could get a full jerk chicken lunch special with a pop for $3.99 plus taxes. Honestly, the best tasting jerk chicken in all of Toronto! It was owned and operated by a Chinese man from Jamaica with a very thick Caribbean accent. Anyone else remember this dude? Really miss seeing an Asian man speak authentic Jamaican Patois (Creolese). LOL

This thread just made me hungry for jerk chicken and I really wish my favorite Mr.Jerk was still around. :(

Good jerk pork but everything else is lacking at best.

I remember the shop, I used to go there whenever I could. I prefered the Jerk pork over the chicken, I usually do.

Some of the people at Jerry's (Gerry's?) near StClair/Christie look & sound like Jamaican Chinese. They have decent pork, too, you really taste the allspice. The brown rice is kinda dull, though.

I have been to the one on morningside as well as the new one on hwy 7/kennedy and i find there is a difference in quality. i still think wellesley location is the best for chicken although the one on hwy 7 has great jerk pork.
