just hoping for some input....

so, on march 8th i went on a job interview with a large fortune 500 company. it went extremely well. you can't be hired on the spot because i was interviewed with HR and would need to be interviewed by the Sales Manager who eventually has the final say since their necks are really on the line for my performance. but basically my interview with HR was a hit. i did my homework and answered all the questions and basically was able to control the situation. and when i say control, i mean i was able to keep a good flow in conversation through asking good questions. it basically felt like a very good conversation. it was a thursday and she ended the interview saying i got a second interview but could not squeeze me in the following day which is a friday and last week she went on vacation. she allowed me to get back in touch with her should i not hear anything from her.

i didn't here anything from her the last 2 days and she is back from vacation. i just wrote a simple email hoping her trip went well and would like to reconnect. never heard back. i would assume i shouldn't keep pressing....at least i shouldn't this week. when should i get back in touch again? though email? phone?

it would be pretty messed up if someone tells you they got a second interview and not give it to them. and at the very least i would think she would tell me the role has been filled if it has been. thoughts?

thanks....

thanks for answering the question. i basically felt the same way. i just wanted to consider what others may think as well. i'm a young guy and this role i am applying for is my first large company i will be working for outside of co-op while i was in school. the last 3-4 years i did my time with a small company so i guess you naturally get a little eager because this role would help my career get into the right direction.

I would call her, given the bit at the end of the interview. HR get bugged all the time, they expect it, I wouldn't worry about bugging them. It's the hiring manager (your eventual boss) you gotta step lightly around.

Don't worry that she hasn't responded to your email. No news isn't bad news, in this case. She's probably trying to set something up with the hiring manager for you.

Yes, must keep in touch. Tell them you've heard the following good thing about the company (make it something true and real -- do NOT bullshit) and you'd really like to work for them.
