The NFL continues to bury it's head in the sand. For most NFL players the pension plan is a joke, they might as well have taken up professional wrestling. At least he didn't go out like Chris Benoit.

Really they have the same problem as the NHL.

The player are to big and fast. Resulting in way to many head traumas.

And I have no idea how to solve the problem unless rules are implemented curtailing the weights of the players.

And that notion would get shot down pretty darn fast I would reckon.

Just saw his grief stricken mom speaking on TV. So sad. R.I.P.

Maybe Jimmie Cook did make the right decision by forgoing the NHL to work in his father's Canadian Tire store and marry Marcy "Boom Boom" McLean.

lets keep the head trauma comments until we hear more......he was having problems.....(his tumble down the mountain a few years back)......could have been a number of contributuing factors.....IF....it was suicide.
I will hold off judgement ...until I hear/read more......
but having said that......R.I.P Junior.....you were a warrior on the field..!

Police are investigating it as a suicide as per NFL network. Their coverage has been outstanding, without being exploitive. Interesting to note he is the 2nd NFLer to commit suicide with a gunshot to the chest, leaving their brain intact for medical investigation... Hope this doesn't become a trend.

Great football player. So sad to see him pass, even sadder to believe he caused his passing.
RIP Junior, you were special!

They're doing a hell of a lot more than the NHL.

Just wondering what evidence all those blaming head trauma have. It could just as easily have been someone who is lost/depressed once his glory/playing days are over. I seem to recall him coming out of retirement at least once so he obviously had problems staying away from the game but he had zero opportunity now.

.
That isn't hard to do . A league that penalizes Bare-knuckle boxing with just a 10 minute major ( often a goon who doesn't even get that many minutes in a game ) . Just look at what the NFL league did to the bounty gate .

What does correcting my post change the meaning of the post ? Oh by the way Look up NHL rule 46 before correcting my post
The penalty for fighting in the NHL is a 5 minute major penalty. There are extenuating circumstances that can add to time, but my statement is correct and yours is wrong.

I have previously read Rule 46, and reread it now, and it confirms my statement.

If you are so ignorant to not know the penalties for infractions, it becomes more difficult to take anything you say seriously in the matter.

For some reason the factual integrity of a Sports Discussion forum on an Escort Review Board is very important to George. Gotta give him credit though. He's probably the only person on the face of the earth who wants that responsibility.

It's seems that sometimes it's difficult for some of these guys to define themselves after retirement. The middle aged male's mind can be a pretty fucked up place. He's pretty close to the demographic that offs themselves the most so head trauma might not be the only factor in this case.

This is so tragic. Apparently, 8 of Junior's San Diego teammates died from a variety of causes before their 40th birthday.

JS made over 28Mil over his playing years. I don't get why a pension plan is even necessary with that sort of income?
