They are going to cause catastrophic financial consequences when cities have to continually look after them. The cities blame the province but the real problem are the junkies, most of whom don't want help or have no intention to get off drugs. Help is needed for the 25% or so that truly need it.

Most, if not all, are Canadians who are the meth heads so it's not an immigrant problem. I've never seen a non Canadian junkie as they all speak perfect English. I can't say what my solution is, it's the same as what the paramedics say.

Being a former addict myself although not a drug addict and spent time in a shelter i see your reasoning. I can tell you this that a lot of them were the cream of the crop of society, I was a successful entrepreneur and it took me years to recover. I thought drug addicts were all low income people that had dead end jobs but a lot of them were well educated and had succesful careers and couldn't believe that some were doctors, lawyers etc.. A lot of them are worth saving but the support systems really do suck.

It is all well and good to complain about junkies…but when organizations attempt to to build shelters and safe injection sites nobody wants them in their backyard either.

I don’t think the answer lies in getting angry at the weakest, most vulnerable people in society…but for a couple of breaks in life any of us could be walking in their shoes.

For the ones with no chances of recovering/improving, take away the crutches society gives to prop them up. Let them fail. Sounds inhumane but if you choose otherwise, have to deal with the consequences....

They have no crutches from society…they are living on the street and eating at soup kitchens.

DoFo shut down the safe injection sites and surprise, there are more addicts on the streets.
DoFo killed rent protection and surprise, there are more homeless people.
DoFo cut social services and surprise, there are more homeless.

Notice the pattern?

Exactly. As I recall, Dofo’s contribution to solving this problem is to tell the homeless people to go get jobs. He literally has no clue. Smh

Ford is right, they should build junkie camps in the middle of nowhere like work camps. Get them out of the cities. Give them access to whatever drugs they want. Most have no interest in getting clean or working.

Why don't all the bleeding hearts take one each in?

Fuck'em. It's the Left's fault, so let them live amongst the junkies. We should have built treatment centres instead of allow safe injection sites.

They told use arresting drug users didn't help the situation and providing a public health approach was the better choice. Now they've lost control of the situation and can't find the money to fix it.

The Public sector is fucking ridiculous. Nothing is driven by results, only ideology. The more they fail, the more money they expect from the people.

His big solution was a $10k fine for being poor and homeless.
How does one impose a $10k fine on a person who has no money to begin with? If you want to get rid of them, incentivize them to MAID and increase the programs eligibility (although I noticed if a persons only medical condition is a mental illness, they are not eligible for medical assistance in dying until March 17, 2027...I wonder if after this date, the simple fact of being homeless would make one eligible).

How is it the left's fault?
The numbers went down under provincial liberals and up under Ford?

Under more right wing governments the states cosume 80% of the world's opiods.
