Just a Thought - Re: Un Wanted Attention or Flames

I am normaly not a thread starter or one that gets involved in the petty "Wars of the Wits" but thought I would throw this out.

It seems that there are several members (no names mentioned) on this board that either get alot of attention (not nessesarily good attention) or get flamed alot. And alot of the time they complain about it, and blame others and flame them in return, or post "why me?" and feel sorry for themselves.

They way I see it, if you crave and seek attention (and you know who you are) you are going to get negitive attention just as much as positive. Don't want to be chalenged? Don't want to get "picked" on? Don't try to be the "Centre of Attention" NO ONE likes a grandstander, and when you become one, dying for attention there is going to be a backlash.

Don't want the negitive attention? don't post the subject.

I agree with you Philanthropist. Some set themselves up as targets for constant flaming and I have no sympathy for them.

However, there are *many* occasions when someone posts an innocent comment or opinion……and gets pounced on. One small example - Kathy P (?) posted earlier in another thread and she was picked on (sarcastically) for spelling a word wrong. Go figure!
Grammar...check
Spelling...check

The issue isn't spelling, it's knowing what you're talking about. I wonder if she really knows what the "Richter Scale" is?
It measures how rich you are.

I'm not one tp speak but a few ladies here do bring it apon themselves.
Costantly stepping into threads that don't pertain to them and with tag lines like "flame proof" and "I'm not opinionated I'm just always right!" Commnets like that whether you like it or not just invite people to attack you, why do it them, well attention of course there can be no other logical explanation.

There's a difference between uttering whatever enters your pretty little head and saying something thougthful.Einstein didn't just blab out the theory of relativity, he thought about it (for a very long time) and then he published it.

wow. how witty and urbane ... i am soooo impressed ...

unfortunately for your logic, einstein was around before the dawn of the internet and the age of the 'sound bite' ...

both have contributed to a drop in the use of proper sentence structure, grammar and spelling ...

my thoughts ...

there will always be grumpy people on the board who will take delight in offering unsolicted harsh critiques of any sp who dares to post ...

and there will always be sp's who will shamelessly self promote themselves at every opportunity ...

overall - imho - i think that the terb community benefits from a dialogue between providers and clients ...

what has continually amazed me is the amount of time and energy that people pay to morons ... why not just ignore them? for example ... hmmm /petea ... or even vato loco ...

That's no excuse.

no excuse intended. it is simply reality.

and merely a response to silvertongue's post that made reference to einstein's theory of relativity ...

The problem is the more you post the more addictive it gets and the more you think your opinion needs to be heard. I'm guilty. Others really don't have the nerve to say what they really feel in day to day situations so the release some tension on the board.

Others are just egomaniacs. Simply.

I sure everyone agrees with me!!!:p

BTW - great point Kiarra
