has anyone else been getting a prompt for an update when you launch kazaa?
i downloaded it and chose not to install it after reading the license agreement. seems to me they want to put the liability of any copyright infringement on the user. they also want to add more third party access and ads etc...
i use kazaa lite without all that bs. how can i get that update prompt to stop now that i don't want to update?
any thoughts on the matter appreciated.

I have done the update, and it seems to work ok. They are now putting a value on your sharing (participation). If you have a higher participation level, you are moved to the front of the upload queue. On my upload list it does not seem like Kazzalite users, and/or people who are not sharing, are able to complete any downloads because they get cancelled/replaced by people with a higher participation level

Download problem

I had trouble when I upgraded to XP. I guess it has built in features that don't allow sharing. Does that sound right from what you know? (I'm downloading on Win98 just fine)

my os is win98se and can download fine with kazaa lite.
aren't you concerned with the fact that they have put the infringement liability on you, the user?

I’m not a lawyer, but I doubt it was ever legal to download and use copyrighted software, or share music or movies. Luckily, there are 7.5 million other users, im just hoping for the best. I did not give them my real name :)

i downloaded the update...i have Windows XP and everything is working fine....
Interesting. I just tried again. When I attempt to download a file the message I get immediately is "failed". Its not the "more sources needed" message. Guess I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling. Thanks for the heads-up.

Pass on the update.

My son updated Kazaa Lite thinking he was doing something good......wrong. All it did was load it up with pop-ups and spyware again, besides the other new features it offers. If you remove the spyware, with AdAware, Kazaa will not work.

Ended up removing Kazaa 2.0 and putting Kazaa Lite 1.71 back in, and all is back to normal. Guess Kazaa 2.0 works ok, but I just don`t want all that spyware running in the background on my PC.

I just ignore the update prompts.

I'm about to get a router installed and I've read where it can cause problems with kazaa and other similar software. Has anyone with a router experienced this?
