My heart goes out to the family of the boy who fell from the apartment window Fri. night, about a km from my house. The mother is blaming the landlord for not adjusting, or missing safety locks on the windows.
The point I'd like to make is that... yes, the landlord is responsible for the maintenance of the building. But I would care about my own safety, and install my own locks(for what a few dollars). The landlords are also blamed for smoke detectors, when the tenant has removed the battery.
