Laptop fan help

I have a hp dv2915ca, from the time I turn it on, the cpu fan cycles on and off for appox 5 mins. When the fan turns on, its for like half a sec and turns off and cycles. This doesn't happen all the time, its a random act. Sometime the fan cycles on and off for hours. It gets very annoying.

Is this a problem, anything I can do? thanks

Try changing the power scheme in Windows, and see if the behaviour changes. If it does, then that means that this is just its normal behaviour.
