Just so we're clear, I dont think Vegas will ever completely die out.
But it is currently on life-support, and its also possible some casinos could go bankrupt.

Reasons are:

- Everything is overpriced
- Foreign countries are boycotting travel to the US
- Rising inflation and economic instability

The good news, I tried booking a hotel for august and prices of many hotels has come down.
I might still AirBnB it though.

Summer is always a cheaper time to go to Vegas because it's a bajillion degrees there. WSOP is in the summer because they're trying to fill the empty hotel rooms
But even taking that into account, the travel for this time of the year supposedly is way down from any previous years.

It's going to be interesting to see what the winter traffic will be

It has always been overrated. I didn't enjoy my time there at all... Unless you like to play poker or just want to spend a lot of money extravagantly...you will not enjoy it there... I'm an outdoors guy who was invited a few years back...I enjoyed Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and fly fishing the Montana River...I was in heaven then I was in Vegas lol...

The prices in Vegas have gone up faster over the last 20 years than almost anywhere. Getting ther used to be pricey....it was alwaysan expensive place to fly to. But there were always cheap hotel and food options unless you had to have top end accomodations. But now even the "meh" places are super $$$$....especially for a guy from Buffalo.
The only place that I have seen prices go up more is Disney. Places like the Carolinas, NOLA, Florida beaches, Jersey Shore, Nashville......have gone up too...but not nearly as much.

Couple of additional Vegas issues.

Remote shit has reduced to training, conventions and seminars that were a Vegas staple. I am not talking about huge Comex stuff. I mean the little events you would see on the bulletin boards and forget. It all adds up, though. People just don’t travel for business like they used to. They don’t pay any fucking attention when remoting in, but apparently that doesn’t matter.

Vegas started marketing itself to the Mass Elite when the riverboat casinos and Native American casinos took off. Worked for a while, but the Mass Elite has a huge Bucket List. They just don’t hit Vegas as often as the Common Person, who will go several times a year if it is affordable (which it no longer is).

Was going to Vegas once every 2-3 years. Boys event, with SO, or SO and other couples. Oh, and some odd work junket/conference.

Last visit was 2018. Can't see myself going back. The joy/fun is no longer there given the bucks spent as everything stated by OP.

Sadly one day, I will think the same about seeing ladies.

Totally agree.
It strikes me as what a bloke without class believes class looks like.

True. I heard stories from people how cheap and fun it was then I went there before pandemic and was appalled lol. Even the fast food places were expensive (something like us$13 for a subway footlong, again before pandemic) and every last smoker from America is there and imitation everything ...eeks.i avoid punting in USA but then you read about the scamming women etc etc it seems particularly stressful/dangerous.
No thanks.

Genuine question.

Many Terb threads involving the U.S. turn anti-U.S. very quickly, often with good reason.

What is the Canadian interest in the U.S., especially Vegas?

Personally, I am a Europe lover. My last Europe trip connected through Montreal. Granted I was worn out since I saw a favorite in Montreal on the long connection and git to the gate like 15 minutes before boarding. But I just closed my eyes, went to sleep, and bam, the plane was landing in Europe.

When places in Europe are mentioned in the Terb International section, there is genuine interest in each place by posters who have never seemed to have been there.

If I were a Toronto native, I would get on a plane heading east to Portugal or Spain instead of one heading west to Vegas or to Mexico (another place that Canadians often mention).

Vegas does have some good day trips such as Death Valley and Valley of Fire, but the Canadian west coast is awesome as well.

Why complain about the U.S. and its high prices (exacerbated by the currency rate) and its low-class citizens. As I said previously, genuine question, why go to the U.S. on vacation at all with Europe being so close?

It's just Vegas but Hawaii to. They keep hiking their hotel taxes to try and fix their own fuck ups.
Elevated rail system is billions over budget and isn't even finished yet. So their solution was jack up the hotel taxes and get the tourists to pay for it.
Now they are implementing an "climate change" tax. I believe it starts in January 2026. They are blaming tourists for beach erosion, poor up keep on hiking trails. Meanwhile the locals use all these things to.
They just nickel and dime you to death their.

The US is close and you can drive to many places instead of being crammed in a plane.
Food and water quality is the same as hear.
No language barrier.

There are a lot of places you can visit in the US that don't have much political drama. You are also free to visit other places... it all depends on your interests...I would stay on a plane a little longer and go to Patagonia, Chile or New Zealand I travel a lot with a lot of fishing involved. It baffles me how the democrats and the liberals are putting so much emphasis on Trump in the WH...the voters have decided they want him over kamala...he's 7 months in...we don't really know the results of his policies...It's time for Canada to not be dependent on US...

Las Vegas and Hawaii face the same problem, lack of fresh water. If you think it's bad there, take a trip to Cape Town South Africa. Water is more precious than oil yet we waste it like brain dead glutton. Enjoy the links folks.

I love pistachios yet they are getting beyond my price tolerance. Why, California has 950 golf courses, they take precedent over farming and they are water pigs.
